Women of God can never be like women of the world. The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude; we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith. We have enough greed; we need more goodness. We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. We have enough popularity; we need more purity. Margaret D. Nadauld

Hey There Delilah
It always makes me grin when I can take a jumble of craft supplies and turn them into something spectacular!
One of the biggest trends in the crafting community is "upcylcing". It is the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or a higher environmental value (from wiki answers)
One upcycling project I found was at http://thesweetestpear.blogspot.com/2011/04/t-shirt-tutorial-2-even-better.html (check out this site-lots of great projects!!)
Supplies:
t-shirt (We used adult size XL)
scissors
sewing machine with matching thread
1. Begin by straightening out your t-shirt. Iron if it's very wrinkly. Then, fold your shirt in half so the sleeves are lined up.
2. Cut around the sleeves
3. Cut around the neck . At this point, your t-shirt will look like a tanktop.
4. Sew across the bottom of the shirt while it's right side out. Then flip the shirt (now a bag) inside out and sew across the bottom again. The second seam you sew is going to be above the first.
5. Now to make the bottom boxy. While still inside out, make a triangle. Sew across (perpendicular to the seam) to make the stitch the base of the triangle
decorate and embellish! Or you can leave it naked too...
Hey, thanks for posting this. I bought some upcycled t-shirts at a thrift store in Hawaii to use instead of plastic shopping bags. I've been planning to make more and now have your clear instructions to guide me.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of upcycling. I've used my son's favourite tshirt for a cushion cover before now, but that's it. really.
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever idea. I've got a lot of old T-shirts that need recycling. This is perfect. P.s. I also like not reading another answer to this prompt that didn't involve something sensuous (enough's enough, I think.)
ReplyDeleteThat is so clever how you used the three word prompt to show us great crafts and upcycling. I have never heard of that before.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing
Visiting from Three word Wednesday
Blessings
