The calendar says it's still technically summer, but for all intensive purposes, it's fall in my world.
I'm ready for cooler temperatures.
I'm ready for the leaves to change.
I'm ready for some football.
I'm ready to wear boots and sweaters.
Fall makes me think of apples, pumpkins and scarecrows.
Fall makes me think of baking.
Fall makes me think of crisp air, leaves changing colors.
Fall makes me think of the end of the baseball season.
Autumn makes me think of New England. There is something magical about the season up there. Cape Cod, after all the tourists leave, takes on a new tone. I remember bicycling through I believe North Truro about 20 years ago. It was late september, and some friends & I went away for a long weekend. We bicycled around, and visited small galleries closing down for the season.
Another fall, another trip to Maine. I went antiquing and eating for a few days. It was quite delightful.
Then there was my trip to Vermont and New Hampshire. A friend & I became foliage tourists, and drove through back roads and over quaint covered bridges. I saw some of the most spectacular colored leaves, that all these years later, they still define fall for me.
The calendar may still indicate summer, but I'm falling for Fall.
