When I was younger, I used to travel quite frequently on business. Most of the places I got to visit were less than glamorous or chic, so a lot of times I was on my own with healthy choices. Many hotels back then did not have gyms and most rooms still allowed smoking in them.
Not the best combination for healthy living.
I used to bring along my own survival kit with me, which included food ( trail mix, individual sized soy milk and a few other travel hearty snack items. The most important thing were resistance bands. They are portable, packable and offer a great, versatile workout when no gym is available.
After doing a series of sun salutations to stretch out, id grab the bands.
I had a really easy routine that helped me on the road.
I'd do lateral raises, bicep curls and even leg kicks that rivaled any machine workout in about 20 minutes.
Several years later, when I blew out my knee, my physical therapist had me doing at home exercises with the band.
There are a ton of you tube videos out there; many are not designed for beginners or are more of an infomercial. Here are my two favorites:
