I have chronic back pain. Between playing lacrosse, field hockey & running track in high school and college, a car accident and tweaking my back at work many years ago, my whole spine can bother me. I see a chiropractor semi-regularly and get massages, but it doesn't always do it. I saw a physical therapist after I broke my my leg and as part of therapy, I used a foam roller. We discussed if it could be used on my back. Apparently, it could be used anywhere.
The only problem was the cost of a roller. They retail for about $40 and I'm cheap.
I knew I could make one for less.
I bought PVC pipe, duct tape and a pool noodle.
I sliced open the noodle and inserted the pipe.
I duct taped it together.
Ready to roll.
There are a lot of great exercises on Pinterest. Foam rolling is great for runners as well as other sports.
I've noticed a difference with recovery time too between workouts.
Most importantly, I found the perfect exercise to help with post computer all day pain. I spend 10-15 minutes every night before bed rolling out my body and I've been able to practically eliminate my back pain.
