My life is guided by the principles outlined in Matthew 25:32-36:
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.
As well as Micah 6:8
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly[a] with your God.
I look for opportunities to be the hands and feet. One of my greatest ways to minister to others is being a foster parent. We've fostered numerous kiddos over the years, and each leave a mark on my heart.
In Sioux Falls, there is a desperate need for foster parents. When kiddos come into the "system", they go to Children's Inn. They stay there until they can be placed into a foster home. Ideally, they have a brief stay, but sometimes that's not the case. Many of these kiddos come into care with just the clothing on their backs and no toys or comfort items.
We decided to spread to some holiday joy to the kiddos waiting for a new home.
Little Man and I went on a shopping spree at the Dollar Tree and picked up toys, tooth paste, toothbrushes and more little things for those who would be spending their holidays there.
It was a lot of fun putting the packages together! We set up an assembly line where Little Man and I packed and the Big Man finished it up.
We wrapped boxes so it would be more festive. I know that the kids will be so appreciative, and it was a great reminder for him that he's got lots to be thankful for.
