flood

flooding, Sioux Falls 2009
One of our favorite rainy day things to do is to have an indoor picnic.

You have picnic fare-I love my chips and sandwiches, and of course healthy stuff too.

My favorite picnic go to meals are sandwiches-I love roast beef, horseradish sauce and lettuce; Little Man loves cheese sammys and the Big Man loves lunch meat, period!

And you spread it on a lovely blanket on the floor.

I love fat quarter quilts, and I created a very easy pattern to make your very own fat quarter quilt.

I took about 20 fat quarters

1 1/2 yards backing fabric

binding

batting

normal quilting supplies

I sewed the fat quarters together, 4 for each row.

I then sewed the 5 rows together.

I then attached the backing fabric to batting to the quilt top.

Pin, and sew.

My usual quilting method is stitch in the ditch. Its fast and efficient.

Pin the binding.

Sew the binding.

And...you are done!

A Hard Rain is Gonna Fall

One of our favorite rainy day fun activities is to go camping indoors.

We build a pillow fort.
step one: select blankets and pillows
step 2: spread the blankets out
step 3: select friends
step 4: enjoy!

We tell stories, the scarier the better.

We may make a campfire.

We even make microwave smores.

To make the smores you need:

Graham crackers

Hershey bar

Marshmallow fluff

Take a graham cracker, spread fluff on it, and top with a piece of hershey’s and another graham cracker. Microwave for about 10 seconds on a plate until every thing is soft, goey and turned into melted bliss.
