Drive

I transport a lot of stinky pre-teen boys in my car. I also have a puppy dog that loves to be my co-pilot.  Between them and their food, equipment and shoes (why on earth do they insist on taking off shoes in the car??) there is a wretched scent that lingers long after they have been dropped off at their respective homes. Febreeze doesn’t always last, so I have resorted to potpourri in my console. I keep it a sachet (they are in the wedding section in most craft stores) and freshen it up time to time. I have learned that the more earthy, musky scents cover better than their floral counterparts.

My current blend includes

Earl Grey tea blend (loose tea)

Chamomile

Mugwort

Comfrey

Cardoman pods

Cloves

Sweet Dreams

I have had sleep issues most of my life. I used to suffer from night terrors when I was a kid, and from time to time I still have horrific nightmares. My son also has sleep problems, where he has a hard time shutting his mind down (very common with autism). Melatonin, sleepy time tea, meditation-I have tried them all with the little man to no avail. One thing that has worked for me, and has had some success for him are dream pillows.

The herbs in the pillow are similar to what are in sleepy time tea, and smelling them can help promote restful sleep.

Needed:

White sachet bag or muslin

Chamomile flowers

Lavender flowers

Valerian

Mix herbs together and put in bag/muslin. Pin inside pillowcase. Have sweet dreams
