It's the day after hurricane sandy has come barreling up the east coast and has completely pummeled my home state of NJ. Dawn is just breaking, and the full extent of damage will be assessed in the hours ahead.
As of right now, all those I love and care for have checked in and are ok. The 100+ year old trees in my hometown (some dated back to the revolution) are gone. My friend had parts of her roof blow off. A levy broke near where I grew up and three towns have been flooded as a result. A generator failed at NYU medical center and dozens of patients needed to be hand respirators as they were carried. Down 14 flights of stairs. Queens is on fire. New York City is dark. The jersey shore has, in Governor Christie stated, has been rearranged.
Recovery efforts are on the horizon. In the meantime donate to the Red Cross. Hug your family. Things can be replaced. People can't.

Women of God can never be like women of the world. The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude; we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith. We have enough greed; we need more goodness. We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. We have enough popularity; we need more purity. Margaret D. Nadauld
