When the Mormon pioneers reached Salt Lake City, they entered the Salt Lake Valley at the "This is the Place" monument.
Today, its a bit of a touristy area, complete with a pioneer village and historical interpreters.
However, it is telling an important chapter in our country's history and how the west was won.
Most of the Mormon pioneers came from Nebraska pulling handcarts
to reach Utah (or as they called it, Deseret).
Needless to say, many did not survive the journey.
Some they say haunt it (as seen on My Ghost Story on Biography)

Women of God can never be like women of the world. The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude; we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith. We have enough greed; we need more goodness. We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. We have enough popularity; we need more purity. Margaret D. Nadauld
