So for the longest time I didn't wear horizontal stripes, because of you know, the rules. Lately I've been surrounded by other women who have transcended body image. Brittany Gibbons is an amazing role model who has helped me think outside of the curvy box (www.brittanyherself.com). One of my favorite bloggers, C Jane Kendrick wrote an amazing piece for the Deseret News about body image that spoke to my heart.(http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865581198/Be-OK-with-the-body-you-have-now.html)
I was in my favorite big box store (Target) the other day and just browsed, not expecting to find anything. (I usually get luck
lucky with some sort of goodie though). I found this cute blue & grey dress on clearance that was just screaming my name
But I backed away because it was horizontal stripes.
Huh.
I decided that it was time to practice what I preached and breaking the fashion rules.
So I bought it.
And wore it.
In public.
To church.
And to go visit my mom in the skilled rehab unit at the nursing home.
You know what? I felt pretty.
No one told me I was breaking any rules.
I'm such a rebel.
