I have to admit that I am an ipod/itunes junkie. I love it from podcasts to downloading and discovering new artists (like the Moldy Peaches) to completing my collections (hello Weezer!)Over the weekend I created a new playlist that is designed to get me through the workday. It features Feist (1234) to start off with to Aleandra Hope (great singer) Rilo Kiley, Weezer, Coldplay, the Pixies, the Shins, U2, Cat Power, Wilco, Au Revoir Simone and about 100 other songs. I definately like my music and there are certain songs that speak to me about places I've been and times in my life.
I'm the Man Who Loves You by Wilco. It reminds me of the Big Man and the 15 years we've shared together. Same with Lover by Devandra Banhart and Regina Spektor's amazing cover of Real Love.
Feed the Tree by Belly, Monkey Gone to Heaven and I Bleed from the Pixies-reminds me of going to shows in Boston back in my college days. I can say I was there and I saw the Pixies, Del Fuegos, and a whole host of other bands that never made the big time. I remember seeing shows at CBGB's too-they had these awesome all ages hardcore shows on Saturdays that were well worth the train ride in.
I am Not Ashamed by Wilco. What an amazing song. Enough said
Stay With Me-Rod Stewart. Brings me back to a karoke session at the shore many many years ago, with a group of friends I haven't thought of in ages.
I'll put the whole playlist on iTunes under iMixes.
