This is a two-fer today! I just finished purging all the papers that the Little Man brings home from school. I pared it down to fit into a 1 inch binder and filed stuff away into page protectors. Amazing the piles that I had all over the place in my art studio wound up fitting into a small binder. I know that I can do all of this and make a difference for my son. Basically, how can I ask him to keep his stuff neat and tidy if I don't?
I am a pile-er. I put stuff into piles and then hope for the best. The piles only work if you actually go through them, which I don't tend to do. Instead, the piles sit there and nothing gets done with them, except grow higher. I want us to lead a happy life filled with great memories. I don't want to feel chained to my stuff and have to crisis clean on a regular basis. I am getting to that point, and today was huge for me. Some people stuff things in bags, to never go back to. I am a visual person, so having the piles in front of me (theoretically at least) would cause me to do something...but the piles just multiply. So, today I resolve to get rid of all my piles. They won't all be gone today, but it is a start. Actually, my next big project is going to tidy up the shelving unit in the art studio. I have stuff piled on the shelves, but nothing really organized. I think the best way for me to do it is by craft/medium (stamping together, scrapping together, etc) so I can easily find things and not have to rummage through stuff. And what I don't love can go too!
Just the ability to go through my closet and dresser and get rid of stuff was big. I feel about 25 lbs lighter too-just knowing that all that stuff is gone and never to return. Then to get through the papers on top of it was big too.
I've gotten a bunch of laundry done, with about another 3 loads to go-another one for the big man, the little man's stuff and then maybe sheets and pillow cases. I still have those shoe boxes to wrap, but I can save that for during the super bowl (which I am not really into either, don't care about either team playing). I am going to make enchiladas for dinner (something about super bowl and Mexican seem to go together for me) and the big man wants tater skins. So, I am going to start cooking soon. I also have ironing to do (yes, I enjoy ironing. for me its a stress reliever)and it makes our clothes look nice)but if I don't get to it today, its ok-I can do it tomorrow.
Time to get back to work! Actually its the fun stuff-cooking :)
