After a few weeks of less than sub-Arctic weather, we are back in the deep freeze. Currently its a whopping 8 degrees (cue the song Heat Wave) outside. Its so cold that the dog runs down the deck steps out into the yard and back in before I can close the sliding glass door. The sun is shining brightly and deceptively today. It beckons me to go outside and play and then when I do...its freaking freezing.
I did something that took a lot of courage yesterday. I chopped my hair off. Actually, let me rephrase that so I don't sound like too much of a lunatic-Hannah the hairdresser (I wonder if aliteration was what she had in mind when choosing a career path) chopped my hair off. I like it and I look forward to the less than 10 minutes start to finish to do my hair in the morning. More time for me yay! We love time.
Right now I am having a spa moment whilst I type. I am soaking my feet in my little foot spa thingy that I absolutely adore but don't use enough. I am watching the little man play a game with Sonny and the stuffed animals (sounds like the name of a righteous punk rock band). He is rolling a die and adding for fun (must run in the family or something-I guess nuture wins!) and watching a Curious George DVD. I hid the Space Buddies one (I must be the meanest mother on the planet). I couldn't take it anymore. It was going to push me over the edge or worse. We watched it over and over and over for 3 days straight.
Big Man is downstairs doing Big Man stuff and listening to Frank Sinatra. Little Man just put on THey Might Be Giants Here Come the 123's. Kids music sure has come a long way. I remember going to Del Fuegos and TMBG shows in college. Twenty years later they are making music that both my kid and I can tolerate. I am not a fan of Yo Gabba Gabba (weird black gay russian dude controlling creepy monsters one of which looks like a dancing well, this is a g rated blog so I won't go there) but they do have good music like the Ting Tings and the Roots.
Today I have a few errands to run-return some stuff to the library, buy some stuff for my office at work to decorate it and make it mine. Give myself a mani/pedi/facial. Cook a very yummy dinner. Tonight we are having stuffed porkchops, steamed new potatoes with cilantro, some sort of veggies on the side. The porkchops come prestuffed so I just have to heat them up. Tomorrow we are having a (shhh) vegan cajun dinner. Vegan jambalya, creole cole slaw and mango lassis (ok, so that's Indian but it sounds good)
Will post recipes later.
