It is a beautiful day in the Midwest. Fall is definately upon us. Cool crisp mornings are giving way to the last of the summer warmth. The sunflowers that grow wild are starting to fade. I am dreaming of stew and soup recipes with home baked bread to fill our bellies and souls. School has been in session for almost a month now and the little man has adjusted well to life as a first grader. He has done amazing!
Sunday School started this morning, and the choir was back singing at the Sunday service. This week's selections were an ode to my childhood...All Creatures Bright & Beautiful, The Lord is thy Fountain...brings me back to my Sunday school days...
Little Man enjoyed the Sunday school part and especially the treat time afterwards (Episcopalians are well noted for their fondness of food)!
Its been quiet on the midwestern front lately but this week promises to have lots of excitement. Little Man turns 7 on Tuesday and is due to bring in cupcakes for the special occasion. We watched Le Balloon Rouge last night and it brought back memories of rainy summer afternoons at Pease Library at around age 7 seeing my first French film. The rummage sale happens next weekend at church, and the Little Man & I are going to go help set up on Wednesday (and of course, food is involved!). Have meetings to go to and books to read for book groups, parties to plan, art to create-the list is endless.
Since 7 is considered the age of reason-I mentioned this to a coworker the other day and she gave me a blank look, never having heard this before so I was a bit puzzled...but once I googled it, my conscience was eased knowing that I indeed was correct...but I digress-I decided that I would make Little Man a wisdom book full of quotes from Thoreau, Emerson, Helen Keller, Lao Tzu, the Bible and original artwork to make even more special. I really need to kick it up a notch to finish it by Tuesday (which of course I will, because its for the Little Man). I need to migrate to my art studio soon after I get dinner in the oven (2 hours to cook...)
