Little Man lost his tooth yesterday. There is a big gaping hole that he can push his toungue through. It happened when he was brushing his teeth before church yesterday morning. He was so proud of it! He was showing everyone-and I mean everyone-his gap. He's waiting for his blessing at the communion rail, and he shows the Dean his open space. During coffee hour, he's showing everyone at our table. In Sunday School, he's showing off. Add to the mix that he's so cute, and its on fire.
I helped with his Sunday School class yesterday and it was so much fun. They are so cute at that age, and here's my little guy going with the flow. I always worried about the fact that he didn't have any religious experiences until he became my little man. He does fine in church now, and it helps that my church is so kid friendly. Its not like one of those megachurches or non denominational ones, but there's an attitude that kids are our future and that we need to nuture them. For that I am glad.
I'm extemely busy right now with fundraising going on out the ying yang. We're getting ready for pizza bingo at school, coming down to crunch time. I have a few more places to call and then I'm done. As Pizza Bingo winds down, the Silent Auction for church is heating up. Add to it, I am involved with SNIP which is a local organization to help encourage pet owners to get their pets fixed.
Volunteer work is a big part of who I am. I am a firm believer in giving back, because God has blessed me I need to share those blessings. I give blood regularly. I give money to specific causes-church is the big one, but organizations that help support family sustainability (like Heifer International or Nothing but Nets) and animal rights. I bring shredded paper to the animal shelter for them to use. I make blankets and bake cookies for the local Ronald McDonald house. I volunteer with the March of Dimes (little man is a NICU graduate). I do a lot at church because its obviously a mission I support. I obviously am all over the PTO, and love the fact that I am supporting my son's school. I make blankets for Project Linus. We are foster parents. I want for my little guy to understand that helping others is part of our family life. He gets it to the level that a 7 year old gets it, and he likes to help out.
The down side to being as involved as I am, is the fact that there is a drain on my family life. That being said, I told the big man yesterday that it seems that I am spending more time with the little man than before. I think its because I am managing my time better-and I am not doing the whole sleeping all the time according to the big man. I just have to juggle a little more but its all good.
Today is Monday and I am trying very hard to get motivated to get my butt downstairs and on that treadmill. Throw some laundry in, get ready for work. Do my daily cleaning, get the house tidied up before we leave. Little Man, in order to get a pet fish, needs to clean his room up and make his bed everyday for the next week. Prep dinner and just generally do all the mom things. Its all good and I should get going while I am still motivated.
