I am not ashamed to admit that I love Green Day-have been a fan since way back when.
Today was the first day of summer vacation for the little man. He is spending his summer at hopecare, which is across the street from my office. He went there last year and had such an amazing time. I found out about it when he went to vacation bible school at that church last year. He made some great friends and made such huge progress. He learned so much in terms of social skills, and matured in so many ways. It really benefitted him when it came time for school. I give that place a lot of credit for him having a successful first grade year.
It is also my last day in my 30's. When I wake up in the morning I will be in a new decade. I do have some thoughts about turning 40. So far, I've met all the goals I set when I turned 30. I am married to the man of my dreams. We have an amazing son. I am working in ministry (both in my full time job ministering to the sick and their families and in my part time job educating and ministering to children and youth). I am a homeowner. I have a dog. Life is great.
I have a lot to look forward to in the next decade. Humpy will be going away soon. I can move forward with weight loss goals. I will continue to grow in my faith. I am excited to see how much my little man grows, matures and changes. I am hopeful how my relationship with the big man develops as we move into another phase in our lives.
My little guy is plumb tuckered out from camp today. He's already laying down in bed, and its only 8:30. I should take advantage of this and go to bed early myself too. He watched Alvin & the Chipmunks today, and couldn't stop talking about it. It made me (almost) want to see it. Last night we watched Good Boy on the Disney channel as a celebration of the last day of school. It was a lot of fun, and I have to admit that I enjoyed it.
I remember back in the day when the princess was younger, she and her bff lauralee used to watch Disney (back in the days of lizzie maguire). But I doubt that the princess will admit to watching that channel (too cool for school).
I don't know exactly what the boys have planned for me tomorrow. It is a special day, a milestone. I didn't want a party, and I just want to spend it with those who matter most to me (and maybe some retail therapy as an added bonus). Little man needs some new clothes for the summer since he's growing like a weed. I need some new sandals since the puppy dog ate last year's model. And I need a day out for fun. But first I need to renew my drivers license.
Getting a license here is very different than in NJ. There, its like another layer of h-e-double hockey sticks. Dante had it in mind when he wrote the Inferno. Time stands still, and doesn't move at the DMV. Here, its a brief stop in your day-just something to check off your to do list. I will give an update when its all done.
RIght now I am running out of steam quickly. Time to wrap it up for the evening and get ready for a new decade starting tomorrow.
