Its Monday, and I start vacation in a few days. I am so excited because the Big Man & I have not been on vacation at the same time in literally 3 years. I am really looking forward to it. Its basically a staycation-we're going to Thunder Road one day, the zoo another, Palisades State Park another. It will be a lot of fun, and I am looking forward to time with my boys and no agenda.
I woke up this morning to a dead battery on my phone, and that scares me. Its my only source of contact. My husband has been having issues with his phone as well, and he is looking to get a new one. This is the 4th time in as many days as this has happened. Since the Big Man goes to work at 2:30 AM, I am home alone with the Little Man for 5 hours. If something happened, heaven forbid, and my cell was not working, I'd be sunk.
I've had a few questions asked of me lately, so here it goes:
1. what is your morning cleaning routine? I've spent a lot of time whining about my routine, and how I don't normally do it. However, I get most of it done every day-I may skip a few things here and there, but overall its a done deal. I have tile floors in my foyer, kitchen and bathrooms and a dog, so I like to swifter them every day. I try to alternate days between the dry and wet. I also use the swifter dusters and feather dust the house in the morning. Yes, I do it every day pretty much, and it does make a difference. I have allergy issues, and the less dust I have around, the better. I empty the dishwasher, reload and rinse. I also clean both toilets and wipe down the sinks in both bathrooms. If I have time, I throw a load in the washer and set it to go while I am at work. Both beds are made (I can't stand leaving the house with an unmade bed) and as much tidied up as possible.
2. what is your workout routine? One constant in my life, even if I don't do anything else is my yoga daily dozen. I do mountain pose, tree pose, gate pose, triangle pose, warrior 1, warrior 2, dancer pose, downward dog, cat pose, cobra, camel pose, child's pose.
I also like to get on the treadmill every day, although that's been spotty lately. I try to change it up a bit with different workouts on there (although I really like the 5k workout, it really did help train me for it). In addition, I really love lifting weights, although my idea of weight lifting is 3-5 lb weights may not seem so hard. It really gives me an endorphin rush. The other thing I have enjoyed is doing pilates, although I have not really been doing it the last few years, since Humpy makes it hard. I also am a big fan of squeeze it in workouts. I do squats when I do dishes or brush my teeth. I find excuses to walk or take the stairs during the day.
3. what is your favorite dish to cook for your family?
Hmmm......Big Man has been doing the cooking mostly of late, just due to schedules. But when I cook, I love to cook either Mexican or Italian, with Chinese a close third. I love doing theme meals, from start to finish too. I've just not really been in domestic diva mode lately since I am not in charge of the daily cooking chores.
4. what is your favorite hobby? I love scrapbooking over any of the gazillion other crafts that I do. Its a combination of story telling, and family history which I am both big on. Its also the fact that I love finding different ways to be creative with paper and stickers!
5. describe your perfect day: oooh, this is hard. I would love to just spend a day with my boys, with no agendas or behaviors or stress. Just the 4 of us hanging out.
6. what's your favorite meal to eat out in a restaurant? My all time favorite is linguini with white clam sauce or California rolls. However, neither one is overly done well in this part of the country. I've learned to adapt though.
7. what are you reading right now? Actually, I am not. (sorry everyone!) I've had so much other stuff on my plate that I have been reading magazines more than books. However, my mother in law sent me a box of books a few months ago that I am going to start reading this week. I am going to start with the new Jodi Picoult book at lunch today!
