I Wanna Be Your Dog

When we first got our floppy eared puppy, we were unaware that dogs get ear infections.

In fact, the floppier the ear, the more likely they are to get an infection.

Just like in people, canine ear infections are horrible and make the puppy dog miserable.

It is really easy to keep them from recurring by a few preventative measures.

First, if the ear gets wet (like if they are swimming, or out in the rain) dry it.

A cotton ball or wash cloth works fine.

Secondly, use ear wash to rinse out your dogs ears every few days. In the winter, I do the puppy dog’s ears once or twice a week. In the summer, because he is outside a lot more-and there is more chances for him to roll around, etc-I clean his ears every other day. It takes just a few minutes, and prevents a lot of misery for him.

I also take an opportunity every day to check his ears. If they are looking red or if I clean them and get crud out, I use the Mal-Octic ear drops

his vet prescribed.

Using them for 5-7 days knocks the infection out and keeps our puppy dog happy and healthy

Love the pictures and thank you for the tips. Our dog had terrible ear problems as a pup. They have cleared up though. If you get a chance I would love you to link your doggy health tips up to More the Merrier Monday. It lasts through Wednesday so you have plenty of time to stop by. See you there. http://diyhshp.blogspot.com/
