As of 3 pm today, the Big Man & I will be celebrating 9 years of wedded bliss.
In current society, with celebrity weddings (that cost more than the GDP of several African countries) lasting 72 days, it's a lifetime.
I'm grateful that he's my partner on this journey on lifes long & winding road.
In our 18+ years of being together, the challenges we have faced and the courage we had mustered to prior to getting hitched:
My dad being diagnosed with terminal cancer: the treatment, and later his death and aftermath. It's been 15 years and the psychic scar still runs deep.
My grandmother's decline and subsequent death. I put my life on pause for a year whilst I was her primary caregiver.
His father's own cancer battle.
The start of our careers.
Other 20 something activities: clubbing in NYC, Atlantic City, traveling, concerts, games, the time we drank ourselves back sober (no, not really. It was new years eve, it just seemed that way)
We lived through that, then got married.
In 9 years we have
Watched my father in law lose his battle with cancer
Moved 1300 miles away from friends & family
Dealt with infertility
Adopted a cool dog
Adopted the little man
Adopted krazy kat
On the road to adopting teen queen
In that time we've morphed into rock star parents, best friends and confidantes. I couldn't imagine being on this life journey without the Big Man by my side.
My life has been made better because of him. I know I can do anything because he believes in me. Hes my biggest fan and cheerleader.
I married a good guy, and I'm truly blessed.
