I don't know why this is called a dead lift, other than the fact that when I first did these, my legs felt dead! However, it is a great exercise for your hamstrings and is a more gentle exercise for your core.

You need a pair of dumbbells
Stand feet hip width apart, with the weights at your waist.
Kick one leg back like a pendulum
Hold for a breath
Return to start
Do 2-3 sets of 12 with each leg
