Hurt

It's been almost exactly a week from my accident (730 am will make it complete). The pain has yet to really subside, it's just I'm tolerating it more. I'm learning to live on one leg.
It's limiting.
Last night was the open house at school. I was exhausted walking to the little Man's classroom and back out to my waiting car. I've learned that spinach, berries and tofu (which are my dietary staples) gross out the big man.
My calendar has emptied due to my injury.
I usually teach Around the Curves yoga on Fridays. According to my orthopedist it will be at least October before I will be up there on my mat. I'm frustrated because my life has seemingly taken a big hit and I've added extra burdens to my husband.
I can't do much around the house right now, I'm trying but it is what it is. It falls to my husband. I never thought I'd say I miss cleaning.
I miss my morning and evening routines.
I miss my "old" life.
It's only been a week, but I'm full of nostalgia. I also miss the glamorization of a lot of things, when I didn't realize the enormity of reality.
Sometimes wishes come true, and then you realize it's not what you truly wanted. Then there are others that you wouldn't realize were even a possibility.
Then you have that space in between.

hot legs

It's a rainy sunday morning, and I'm on the couch. Friday morning I made a regrettable decision-instead of bringing my wedge sandals & changing into them at work, I wore them out of the house.
Leaving, I missed the bottom step in the garage and fell into the snowblower that lives in that space. There was no room for two. I hit my head and have a cut and a goose egg.
My shoulder is black and blue.
My elbow looks like road rash.
My wrist, hand and fingers are swolle.
My hip hurts.
My knee, damaged from years of dance, field hockey, lacrosse, track and skiing, swollen and painful.
Worst of all, I broke my leg.
I am bruised, battered and in an incredible amount of pain.
I am completely helpless and vulnerable.
Obviously I am in a funk.
I hate relying on others. I prefer doing for myself.
Of course it had to be my right leg o no driving.
No yoga.
No early morning walks.
No workouts.
I can't even get myself my own coffee or breakfast because I can't balance with the crutches very well.
There is a lesson to be learned from this experience. I will garner some pearls of wisdom. It will force me to slow down, take stock, regroup.
Make lemons from lemonade.
