A Little Something Refreshing

Spring is here, and my car is clean. I spent a few hours in the sun yesterday detailing and washing my car. It was very overdue. I had not armoralled the interior in a very long time, and it showed. But now it looks new and its a good start. It may not look like a professional job, but it definately brought a smile to my face when I got in the car to move in back into the driveway.
My other big news is I signed up to run a 5k next month. I know I can do this-its only 3 miles. I've walked less than that. So I will have to step it up a little bit to get ready. I don't have expectations of winning, but I don't want to make a total fool of myself either. And its for a good cause-its to raise money for breast cancer patients. My college roommate's mother beat breast cancer almost 20 years ago-back in the day when it could have been a death sentence. My mother in law is a 5 year survivor, and my husband's aunt also is a survivor (I don't know for how many years though). A number of my clients are also either current breast cancer patients, or are in recovery, so its a big deal.
In order for me to start on any new journey, it requires a new mix on my ipod. Back in the day, I was the mixtape queen, and now its imixes. If I gave you a mix tape in high school or college, that was a huge deal, because I spent a lot of time and effort in making them. Its no suprise that I was a college radio dj as well, with an eclectic mix of music-all depending on my mood that day. I liken my musical taste to WXPN (88.5 on your radio if you are in the Philadelphia area or you can listen to it streaming on your computer or smartphone). Patty Griffin to Mozart to Sonic Youth to the Misfits-that's a pretty funky playlist. Its like a bunch of mood swings, and that's how I rather like my music.
Yesterday I made a mix for running my 5k, and I am excited to get on the treadmill this morning. I am excited to get myself going and moving and grooving. I put together clothes for the week yesterday, so its a lot easier for me to pick my outfits in the morning. Lunches are packed, and I am good to go. I started dinner last night after I cleaned up the kitchen from dinner. Tonight we are having 3 bean enchiladas, which is going to be very yummy. I love meatless Mondays, and this is a great recipe for it-plus its super healthy. I planned a menu this week that is healthy, nutritious and filling. I want to turn a corner with bad eating habits, and this is the start.
The only real issue that I have had lately is my neck and upper back are incredibly tight and painful. I've tried massage and heat and nothing seems to be relieving the tightness. I know it has a lot to do with stress, and believe me I have a lot of it right now. Nothing that can't be taken care of or resolved fairly easily, but its enough to keep me on edge. Its just I feel off, and as a result everyone and everything else is off. There's a lot of frustration because things aren't exactly going as I would like them to. I would like a self cleaning house please. Little Man's current favorite book is all about robots. I'd like one that would wash the kitchen floor, vacuum and fold/put away the laundry. I'd like one that would tidy up after all of us. I'd like one that makes the house look great!
But since that isn't going to happen anytime soon, I guess its up to me.
