Smooth Up In Ya

(Bullet Boys, sometime in the waning days of hair metal, before Nirvana and grunge hit)
I have a secret confession to make. I love smoothies. I don’t particularly care for the ones that you get in a Jamba Juice type place. I like the ones that I make at home. The biggest problem is that I don’t make them very often. Its not that I don’t have the stuff to make them (I usually do) its just the whole process seems quite daunting. Maybe its because I struggle to wake up in the morning, and the thought of anything more complicated than cereal is beyond me.
But if I had the time and ambition, I would definately make myself a smoothie.

My favorite one is a mocha smoothie. Its better than a Frappacino, and its even good for you! To make it, you need:
1 c vanilla yogurt (I like Dannon all natural)
1 c coffee, room temperature
2 tbsp chocolate protein powder (you can substitute chocolate milk mix or chocolate soy milk)
a little milk or water to thin if necessary
blend all together in a blender. drink up. yum.
if you want to get a little more creative, add frozen raspberries

Another yummy one:
PB & B
1 c vanilla yogurt
milk or soy milk
1 c frozen mixed berries
1 tsp peanut butter
1 tbsp ground flax seeds
once again, the directions are complicated: put in a blender and mix

Pina Colada
1 c vanilla yogurt
1 banana, cut up
1 cup crushed pineapple drained
1 tsp coconut extract
blend. yum.

Mango lassi
1 c vanilla yogurt
1 mango, diced
water to thin
blend. yum. good with Indian food

See, not that complicated or really even time consuming. I think I might have to have one for breakfast tomorrow...
